1. Speak to a TEFL expert and book yourself onto a course
If you’re new to TEFL, you’ve probably got a lot of questions that need answering before you spend your hard-earned cash. Things like, where can I go to teach English? 2. Take your TEFL course and make some friends
We always recommend our Combined TEFL Courses to those who can attend Classroom Courses so that you’ll get the most out of your training. With the classroom element, you’ll get: the opportunity to speak face-to-face with a qualified tutor, the space to practice your newfound teaching skills and a chance to network with fellow students and make some TEFL buddies. You never know when you might bump into them again!
3. Get your shiny new certificates and start looking for work
Once you’ve successfully passed your TEFL Courses, you can start applying for jobs. The best places to look are online TEFL jobs boards such as i-to-i’s. They’re updated very regularly and you can search by location – easy peasy! When you see a job that you like the look of, you can submit an application along with your CV and your potential employer will normally respond within a couple of weeks. Good luck!
4. Have a successful Skype interview and get a job offer
If the organisation you’ve applied to like the look of your application, they’ll get in touch and normally ask for a Skype interview. Remember: dress like you’re attending a normal interview, try and have good open body language and be confident! It always helps to get some planning in first so think of some questions they might ask you and how you’ll answer. They’re looking for a teacher so keep that in mind!
5. Hop on the plane to begin your dream career!
You did it! You’ve got a job ready and waiting for you. All that’s left is to get packed and say your goodbyes. You’re going to have an amazing adventure so get ready to experience a brand new culture, meet lots of like-minded people and maybe even start a journey of self-discovery – you’ve earned it!
