Once you’ve made the decision to travel, whether you’re TEFLing or otherwise, one of the things you’ll need to budget for is clothing (yay!). The clothes we wear at home just won’t cut it in the humid heat of India or backpacking through the jungles of Borneo. We’ve judged our finds on two factors: functionality and whether they’re fashionable or not. Ideally, we want both. After much research, we’ve found the best places to shop for travel clothes.
In no particular order…
Monsoon
What they’re best for… They may have a rep as catering mainly for women over 30 or so, but Monsoon actually offer some linen tops, trousers and dresses that are ideal for hot and humid weather conditions. Great for clothes to teach in (if you’re TEFLing) and to travel in – winner!

Anthropologie
What they’re best for… We love this store, mainly for travel accessories. They offer a beautifully-designed range of passport holders, sandals, sun hats and sunglasses for the classy traveller.

H&M
What they’re best for… It’s swimwear all the way with H&M. They offer a wide range of swimsuits and bikinis to suit many tastes – and they’re very reasonably priced. Plus, they’ve got a second mirror in the changing room so you can see how they look from the back – so handy!

Urban Outfitters
What they’re best for… Possibly our fave, Urban Outfitters always have gorgeous summer dresses and playsuits that you’re pretty much guaranteed to get complimented on. They’re light and easy to pack so great for backpacking and great for keeping you cool.

Market stalls & independent stores
What they’re best for… Unique finds and disposable items of clothing. This is probably where you’ll find some of your favourite travel clothes because no one else will have them and they’re probably going to be dirt cheap – particularly if you shop at markets abroad!
Price bracket… £ to £££ (depending on stall/store)
