Meet Emily:i-to-i TEFL graduate hailing from Vermont, USA, who for the last 9 months, has been working in Taiwan as a TEFL teacher! Based in the beautiful South-Eastern city of Chiayi (嘉義) at the base of the Alishan Mountain, Emily writes about her time abroad in her informative blog Everything is Golden. If you’re considering teaching English in Taiwan, or have accepted a job offer and are getting ready to go out there, then I’d definitely suggest you take a look at Emily’s blog – it’s clear to see having a read through that she’s certainly making the most of her time in Taiwan… exploring the mountain town of Fenki, camping in Taroko National Park and an action-packed trip to bustling Kaohsiung City are just some of the things she’s been up to recently!
Essentially, if you’re looking at teaching in Taiwan, just consider Everything is Golden to be your comprehensive travel guide – Emily even has a Taiwan Bucket List that she’s aiming to complete (she’s already swum in Renyi Lake and gone to Monkey Mountain, but has yet to master driving a scooter or watch the sunrise from Ali Mountain).
And it’s not just fun outside the classroom she’s been having – celebrating Halloween with her students meant a parade round the schoolyard with all students fully dressed up… think pumpkins, fairies and everything in between! Add to that plenty of fun Halloween games and lots of sweets, and we can see why Emily is having such an amazing time TEFLing in Taiwan!
Having gotten her TEFL course with i-to-i, you could say that we helped Emily with her dreams of moving to Taiwan to teach; and if you’re considering making the move but need some inspiration, check out this amazing video of Emily in Taiwan… just be warned: it could change your life!
