If you are looking to become a TEFL teacher, you should be aware that some countries do require you to have a degree for VISA purposes. However, there are loads of countries where you do not need a degree to teach English – and most of them will probably be very high up on your bucket list of places to visit! Here are our top 5:

Cental and South America

TEFL teachers are in hot demand in Central and South America, and for most countries, you don’t need a degree to teach. Get paid to teach whilst you are visiting the breathtaking scenes of Iguazú Falls in Argentina, or eating scrumptious food in Mexico.

Cambodia

Looking to head out to South East Asia to teach? Then Cambodia is for you! There is an increasing demand for TEFL teachers in Cambodia, and with an incredible culture and beautiful temples (Ankor Wat is a must) – it’s not to be missed.

Africa

You don’t need to be a native English speaker to take a TEFL course, but you do need to have a native English speaker level to succeed. If you aren’t a native English speaker, we recommend you opt for our 120 Hour TEFL course (you can always upgrade later), unless your standard of English is near-native.

The short answer is no! You only need to be able to speak English fluently to take a TEFL course or diploma – we’ll train you on the rest. Don’t worry if you don’t have a bachelor’s degree, this isn’t a requirement for any of our qualifications and you can teach English online and abroad without one. If you don’t have a degree, our advice would be to take our Online TEFL Diploma (420 Hours) to boost your employment potential and give yourself the best chance of bagging a great TEFL job!
